who's got the props?

we spoke to kimya dawson last week, and afterwards she wrote this on her livejournal.

'in real life last night i did a phone interview for a radio staion in australia. and i kept forgetting it was for radio. i was talking really excited about certain things as if it was all going to be edited and printed and taken out of context. but really it is going to be me squealing "NUH UH! LOU BARLOW DID NOT SAY HE LIKES ME!!!" and "YEAH!!! OH MY GOD! YOU TOTALLY HAVE TO CON ANIMAL COLLECTIVE INTO HAVING ME OPEN FOR THEM IN AUSTRALIA!" you know, shit like that. funny in writing. a little dorky when it is actually me saying it. but speaking of old friends...me and dorky had the same wet nurse.'

kimya dawson is in one of the best antifolk bands ever, the moldy peaches. she released a solo rekkid last year on k records. also, she's awesome. you can hear her on fourtrack in a few weeks time.

a new show!!

hey folks
me (levins) and a buddy, one mr james shine, are about to embark on a weekly adventure. some would call it insanity, but we prefer to call it "fourtrack". it's a radio show. a weekly one that occurs for two hours. pretty snazzy, no?
we were asked to describe the sounds we will be playing, so we told them "two hours of experimental lo-fi, ma'am". i guess that's pretty open. the kinda shit you can hear will be everything from beat down folk to leftfield hip hop. also post punk, indie, noise and maybe a little glitchiness.
fourtack begins this wednesday the 23rd at midnight, and continues into thursday the 24th.
because it's the first show, we'll be playing our favourite songs to give you a fairly good idea of what we're into, and as the weeks progress there'll be interviews with some of our most envied musicians, including adem of fridge, kimya dawson of the moldy peaches, why?, sixtoo and lou barlow of sebadoh. some nice people may even come and guest program sometimes!
we think it will be pretty fun. tune in why not?
